The EMI Shielding and Vacuum Metallization Process
 |
|
Over the past several years, we at VTI Vacuum Technologies, Inc. have established a state-of-the-industry metal plating and vacuum metallization process for RFI and EMI Shielding. The level of care and handling, as parts move through this multi-step process, is second to none in the industry. VTI Vacuum Technologies' metal plating process produces a consistently high level of metal plating quality. Sometimes the “Enclosure” package system is not complete without consideration for a conductive gasket at the seams.
|
VTI Vacuum Technologies, Inc. engineering staff designs
some of the most intricate masks in the vacuum and metal plating field. Our
precise metalizing mask designs provide consistent repeatable mask
line control. This assures that the ESD, RFI, EMI Shielding process
will be effective - even on the most complex enclosures.
| Once
product development is completed and for higher production requirements,
custom mask tooling is constructed. This tooling eliminates
hand masking, reduces part cost and provides a high level of
part-to-part mask line repeatability. |

EMI Shielding
Process: Step-by-Step
Step 1)
Incoming parts are carefully inspected upon arrival at VTI
Vacuum Technologies. Any parts that fail to meet VTI Vacuum Technologies,
Inc. or customer standards are returned to the molder for repair
or replacement.
Step 2)
Each plastic enclosure is carefully pre-cleaned to insure a uniform
bond during the metal plating process.
Step 3)
Metal Plating Process - Parts are masked and loaded onto specially-designed
racks for processing per customer specifications.
Step 4)
Final Inspection - All parts are visually inspected. Quality Control
procedures are used to test parts throughout each run. Adhesion
testing is done to ASTM 3359 standards.
As proof of the effectiveness of
VTI Vacuum Technologies, Inc. metal plating and EMI shielding process, the quality
is such that it enables molders and their OEM customers to achieve
just-in-time delivery.
